The brand DR MARTENS has its origins in 1945, when Dr. Klaus Märtens, a German doctor, created a shoe with an air-cushioned sole to better support his war injuries. In 1960, the British company R. Griggs & Co. bought the rights and adapted the concept. The first pair of 1460 boots, with its distinctive air-cushioned sole and yellow stitching, was born. They became a symbol of counterculture and rebellion in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, DR MARTENS continues to embody individuality and originality, attracting diverse and creative communities around the world.
