Junya Watanabe is an eponymous brand founded by the Japanese fashion designer of the same name, a protégé of the renowned stylist Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons. A graduate of Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, Watanabe joined Comme des Garçons in 1984, initially as a design assistant and later as the head designer for the Tricot line. In 1992, he launched his own brand under the umbrella of Comme des Garçons.
