Karhu is a Finnish brand of shoes and sports equipment founded in 1916 by Ab Sportartiklar Oy. Originally a manufacturer of javelins, discuses, and skis, the brand diversified after World War II to include running and athletic shoes. Karhu is particularly known for introducing several sports innovations, including the first air cushioning system, the "Fulcrum Technology." In the 1950s, Karhu sold its three-stripe logo to a then-emerging German brand, now globally known as Adidas. A pioneer in sports equipment, Karhu remains an iconic brand in Finland, celebrated for its Nordic roots and functional design.
