Description

The clothing brand LEMLEM was founded in 2007 by Liya Kebede, a renowned Ethiopian model and actress. The name "LEMLEM" means "flower" or "to prosper" in Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia. The brand was born out of the desire to preserve the traditional Ethiopian weaving craftsmanship, threatened by industrialization. LEMLEM is known for its lightweight and colorful clothing, made from handwoven cotton fabrics. In addition to promoting Ethiopian culture and craftsmanship, the brand supports local artisans by providing sustainable economic opportunities. LEMLEM also incorporates philanthropic initiatives, including through its foundation that works to improve the living conditions of women and children in Africa.
