Melitta Baumeister is a New York-based brand founded in 2013 by German designer Melitta Baumeister and visual artist Paul Jung. After graduating with a master's degree in fashion design from Parsons that same year, the designer presented her graduation collection at New York Fashion Week, where she met Paul Jung, a graduate of the MFA program in fashion photography at the School of Visual Arts. Together, they developed a unique aesthetic, combining sculptural volumes with a conceptual approach. Supported from the outset by VFiles, Melitta Baumeister unveiled her first collection in fall 2014, before being distributed by Dover Street Market. The brand quickly gained international recognition: selected for Vogue Talents 2015 in Dubai, then included in the Cooper Hewitt triennial exhibition in 2016, it established itself as an innovative player on the contemporary fashion scene.
