Original Madras Trading Company is a family business founded in the early 1970s in New York, when the founder's grandfather arrived with a trunk full of Madras checks. From its offices on 38th Street, the company continues to supply prestigious brands while developing its own line of clothing made exclusively from hand-woven fabrics from southern India. Each fabric, made by a single weaver on a hand loom, is unique and recognizable by its turmeric yellow selvedge. This artisanal process, thirty times slower than machine weaving, allows for the creation of an infinite number of shades and exclusive patterns.
