Tapis Noir is a Danish brand founded in 2020 by Mads Lehn Kruse. Specializing in silk scarves and flowing garments, it revisits historical textiles and creates new, original prints. Each piece is made from hand-sewn silk twill and high-quality herringbone weaves, where ancient patterns and influences from all continents are reinterpreted with a modern approach to colors and references. A collector of rare textiles, Mads Lehn Kruse draws on his experience as an artistic director and his interest in decorative arts to breathe new life into these patterns. Produced in small batches, Tapis Noir creations escape the seasonal rhythm of fashion and are made by skilled artisans in the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement, valuing craftsmanship, utility, and the beauty of objects.
